I soldered another metal support through the bars so the tire rack would hold replacement (2) instead of just one. turned out great, I'm very happy with the hide a spare tire rack. fairly simple installation. You cannot see even the spare under your trailer unless you fold look-up and above under the trailer.
Why don't car manufacturers put spare tires on the back of automobiles any more? Probably because the 70s are over, but more so because it is just plain unsightly. Rear bumper spare tire mounts are cumbersome and ugly. They make it difficult to install bike racks and cargo trays. Plus they add weight and length to your travel trailer.
